When the business was in its infancy, Diabetes SA wanted to find a way to better manage their mobile workforce. Diabetes SA had no idea where their drivers and company assets were or if they were safe, as they work alone, and if pickups were actually being completed and when. “For us, it’s not about big brother, it’s about better management of our assets and validating that their work is completed for more effective planning”.

After initially fitting the solution back in 2010, Diabetes SA have been delighted with the results they have seen and have since upgraded their fleet with the plan to roll out devices across the new additions to the fleet in the coming months.
Diabetes SA utilised the services of Fleet Complete’s Installer Network to install the devices into their vehicles. The choice to have the devices hard wired instead of the traditional ‘plug and play’ option ensured that the devices were properly installed in a secure location to avoid any tampering issues.
An integral part of successfully implementing the solution is ensuring that the staff using it have been given the adequate resources to develop their skills. Diabetes SA combined the free online training services provided by Fleet Complete as well as a customised training session to make sure staff were confident in using the software.

Since the implementation of the Securatrak Fleet Management Solution, Diabetes SA have been able to significantly improve the quality of information being provided to their clients, while reducing the amount of time handling customer enquiries. “The system supports our Admin Team to promptly attend to customer enquiries without having to rustle through paperwork. Improved Driver Safety and Behaviour
A key goal for Diabetes SA was to improve the safety of their drivers due to the fact they had no visibility of their driving behaviour or whether they were in dangerous situations. Since installing the devices, Diabetes SA have been able to gain a far greater insight into where their drivers are, if they are safe and if jobs are completed. “We set up alerts for speeding and harsh driving to help educate our drivers on safer driving practices. The behaviour of our drivers has changed, it’s created a safer and more productive culture.”
Improved Efficiency and Productivity Across Operations
Utilising key reports within MyGeotab, Diabetes SA have been able to identify inefficiencies across operations and work with drivers to improve productivity, resulting in more pickups across the day. “It has also helped us to identify which drivers need to improve efficiency. We run a simple report that shows the number of stops each driver does, which shows us how many pickups they are doing. One of our drivers was showing four times more stops than the other drivers were doing, which allowed us to investigate how the work was being completed and in turn improve their productivity.”
The solution has also added benefits to Diabetes SA by acting as a tool to help deal with customer complaints “It has empowered our Customer Service team, they are able to quickly and easily investigate customer complaints. Having evidence that the job has occurred within the required parameters allows us to push back on complaints professionally.” Additionally “Having the devices provides confidence to our customers about our business and demonstrates that Diabetes SA operate an organised and structured operation they can trust.”
